Honeymoon Sex... How to Prepare!
Honeymoon Sex... How to Prepare!
A concerned and compassionate dad just wrote,
explaining that his daughter is engaged to be married in _______ (month). She has heard from several of her girl friends
who were recently married that at first sex was painful. His request was that we recommend any resources (books, articles,
websites, etc.) with recommendations on how to avoid or reduce any pain during the first times.
Thanks to this dad, we have some ideas that might assist your daughter.
To assume that the first time (or several times sexual intercourse is engaged in) it will be totally pain-free
is unrealistic. But, a young bride can prepare herself so that she feels confident. Here are our best suggestions:
1. Make an OB/GYN doctor appointment 6-8 weeks before
wedding. A full pelvic examination will be made, any problems to intercourse discussed, and birth control methods will
be decided and begun. Gynecologists will often suggest that a prospective bride begin a regimen of dialator-use, to
stretch the vaginal muscles for intercourse-readiness. (Some doctors provide the dialators, others write prescriptions
for them.) The regimen is relatively painless and can cause a bride to feel more confident in what to expect from her
husband.
2. The two main causes of pain during intercourse
are dryness and/or bacterial infection. In the case of infection, a gynecologist can identify this and prescribe an
antibiotic to eliminate the infection. Dryness is something that a bride can experience off and on during her lifetime.
So, it can be a great help for a young newlywed bride to use WATER-based lubricant prior to penetration. A good consideration
might be JO H2O Personal Lubricant, 8oz.. (If a bride thinks she and her new husband might enjoy sexual intimacy in the bathtub, shower, pool, etc.), consider
THIS product, JO Silicone Personal Lubricant, 8oz. Because it is silcone-based, it will stay on while a couple is immersed in water.
3. If a young bride is uncomfortable with using doctor-supplied dialator
kits (which are thoroughly sterilized between patient uses), then an excellent choice would be to privately purchase
her own dialator kit. One excellent website source, where both the "intercourse pain" issues are discussed
and the kits are sold is http://www.vaginismus.com.
4. Finally, there are websites which are
excellent, providing thorough discussions of intercourse pain issues, as well as offering substantive solution possibilities.
They are:
http://www.marriagebuilders.com/graphic/mbi5049a_qa.html http://www.kyria.com/topics/marriagefamily/marriage/romancesex/9.35.html and...
http://www.vaginimus.com (already mentioned above)
Thanks, Dad, for your fatherly wisdom in seeking assistance for your precious daughter!
